Update: Where Do We Go From Here

What we've been up to while we wait.
I've been kind of quiet as I've been digesting all the Russian news and stewing over how our family should respond. But we have come to some conclusions and feel we should certainly keep those of you have been supporting and praying with us informed.

Yes, the adoption ban did pass. It's heartbreaking, and discouraging, and not much of the news in the aftermath has been positive. However there is also still hope. There have been talks of an amendment to the ban being submitted that will allow Special Needs adoptions to continue as the country recognizes these children's needs are urgent and more than they can provide for right now.

This is my favorite pictures because of the
pure joy Christine's face after recieving her
own bible at the ladies' conference.
 If you heard her testimony,
You'd understand why! :-)
After much prayer and discussion as a couple, we are still moving forward with our adoption. Our home study is being done as we speak and we are still fundraising. Our financial needs wont go away even if the door slams shut tight.....that would only mean God has another child intended for our family. But He has not allowed the door to shut on Megan yet, and we cannot act in faith if we are sitting on our hands when he has told us to not be afraid and keep moving. Faith with reckless abandon usually requires one of two things. Either waiting on God when you desperately want to move, or moving forward in faith even though your heart is pounding and you are shaking in your boots. What a strange mix of the two we've encountered. We are touched by our daughter, Patricia's childlike faith as she prays for her hopeful sister. She thanks God for her every time, asks him to keep her warm, and says bring her to our house soon so that we can play! We know these lessons to our children and our own unfaithful hearts will be worth every bitten fingernail and tear.
Please dont give up on this process! We haven't and we are pleading for your prayers and support! I am still selling blankets. I will also be selling some gorgeous African beads soon that will not only support our adoption but also this amazing ministry which I had the extraordinary privilage of seeing in person in March. I have never seen a more perfect example God's loving Redemption than in the hearts of those bold and beautiful women. Our first fundraiser will be coming up in February and will support us and this lovely family.

If you have questions about any of this, please feel free to use the "Submit Questions" link above, and we will try to answer any questions you have as best we can. Thank you for all the kind words and encouragement we have recieved as news has progressed. Please do not loose faith!

  1. I just want you to know that I am praying for you daily as you walk the path God has put in front of you.

I know someone who wants to buy some small Kwagala single strand bracelets. If you get any, please let me know! :)
